Worked fine for me. Installed file, once installed pressed root option (ignore not rooted message), restarted my asus and bingo its rooted. Uninstalled Asus bloatware then chose unroot option tablet restarted and unrooting message appears and finally tablet restarted and everything starts up as normal Asus logo etc (but minus the bloatware as I wanted). Great stuff

Didn’t work for me neither, having the latest basic ROM by ASUS installed.
It says, 2 former versions are supported, but not mine.
I hope this beta will be developed on, or else nothing seems to be working, trying to root this device. :/

Need it rooted for ad-hoc accessibility for wireless lan. 🙁

Since this beta-App seems to have run out of support, I kept searching on and on.

Now guys, I proudly present you a solution, that works nearly without PC (SD-card with at least 2GB is necessary) and especially supports the latest stock-ROM of ASUS.

Go to the mediafire-link and download “ROOT.ZIP”.

Unzip the content of the folder “root” within to a sd-card (has to be FAT or FAT32 wihout volume-name…created that one on PC…easist way) ,then shutdown tablet and start (prepared sd-card inserted) it.

If you did everything correctly, it boots in a different way.
If it boots as usual, you failed at creating the sd-card, else you’ll be offered to root, shutdown or unroot your device.

Good luck to all of you. 😉

Your link was one of my failed attempts.
The procedure seems to be quite similar to the one described, but there were differences and at least your links’ procedure didn’t work in my ME172V with latest stock. 😉
