Should this process work on the 7″ also ME176CX? It has the 1.33gHz quad proc and 16gb internal storage running Kit Kat. So I’m curious if rooting is possible and if this would be the process for that device.

This worked perfectly. For those of you getting stuck on DEMO mode you’re suppose to restart the tablet immediately! Also make sure you’re turning your WiFi and everything else it tells you to do. They’re basic instructions people. Read them, follow them, done. 😉

  26. from what I have read some of these not working posts could be due to their build being the bby builds, only the 181c with ww builds are able to be rooted right now

K015 WW ME581CL : this worked for me on the shipped 4.4.2 KitKat, however it will NOT WORK on 5.0.1 updated firmware (and you’ll lose root if you update)
A guy over at XDA developers claims to have a method for downgrading back to 4.4.2 but I have not tried it yet:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/root-downgrade-asus-me581cl-t3075678/page5

I am hoping that someone will develop a root method for Lollipop 5.0.1+ firmware.
Shame on ASUS for locking down their bootloader so that community development is so difficult.

Muchas gracias.

  36. Lud says:

Don’t download it! It’s a malware that switches your device to Demo mode. You will need to make a factory reset to get rid off that.

Superuser trabajando chido.
